A former leading fashion model at 5'10'' in height, Carey was a favorite with high-end American designers, including Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Her father is an accomplished geologist who was voted Scientist of the Year back in 1979 at the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. As a result of his career Carey has been raised across the globe. Modeling began part time when she was a student at the University of Colorado and caught the attention of a representative of the Ford model Agency in New York. The model briefly studied and lived in Paris prior to returning in New York. Her modeling as well as her college career took off and she was featured on Glamour's, Vogue's as well as many other covers of magazines. In addition to modeling, she studied at New York University full-time to obtain a degree in literature. In New York she began to pursue acting. The year 1986 was the year she had her first performance which was a part of Club Paradise, with Robin Williams. She is a rock climber ski, windsurfing, and skiing.
